| A Satirical Look at Anti-Science | ||
Students, listen carefully to this animated political cartoon. The artist is using satire to make fun of global warming anti-science arguments by making ALL scientific claims seem outrageous and by supposedly slamming well-known scientists who are famous for their scientific discoveries -- Galileo, Kepler, Newton, and Einstein. Although you may hear what seem like convincing put-downs of scientific theories, remember it's SATIRE. The actual MEANING is the exact opposite! |

| Science News at Hammond | ||
RSS Podcasts have been uploaded and are ready for our visitors to listen to. Click on the picture above or this MP3 PLAYER LINK to listen to the many podcasts created by 8th grade science students. Students researched a science news article using the RSS feeds page on the science web site. Then, they wrote a summary of the article that interested them the most. Next, they recorded their summary using mp3 recorders and external microphones. Files were then transferred over to laptop computers and edited with Audacity, an open-source sound-editing software application. Finally, the completed files were uploaded to the internet. We hope you enjoy these excellent SCIENCE NEWS AT HAMMOND broadcasts. |

| Podcasting Pictures Now Available | ||
We will be continuing with the project this week. Additional tasks include re-recording RSS Essays as needed (especially for those who were absent Tuesday before vacation -- or, for those who experienced 'technical difficulties' during their recording session), transferring the audio files to laptops, editing the files with Audacity, and finally, exporting the edited file as a finished mp3 file. Our goal is to create an mp3 gallery of "Science News" at Hammond. Click on the picture to access the photo gallery. |
