Camping Trips

Meet Quinn (4), Ashling (11), and Cade (7). Since saying goodbye to the classroom, grandchildren have become my students and the preferred activities are doing monthly MakerSpace projects, bicycling, and camping.

Our first tent camping outing was in August, 2016 to North Carolina's Hanging Rock State Park. We explored the waterfalls, hiked several trails, and played in the lake. It was a great first adventure.

Our next adventure was a four day tent camping trip in early October, 2016 to North Carolina's Stone Mountain State Park. Stone Mountain has water falls, hiking trails, streams, and lots of woods. We took along our bicycles as an additional activity. Wading along the streams looking for crayfish and water striders was another goal. Stone Mountain has a huge granite dome that is a central feature of the park. It's great fun climbing to the top.
